Tutorial #4 - How to Make Gifs for Tumblr in Photoshop CS4 and CS5 (Updated)

Well since my 1st gif tutorial was made so fast and poorly I decided to make a better one, this time I’m showing you how to start from taking the screencaps with the KMPlayer and how to add text/watermarks and stuff

It shows you two different ways to make gifs with both versions of Photoshop, if you have any question/doubt my ask is always open, hope you like it!

How to make Gifs on Photoshop

To take the screenshots I use the KM Player like this:

The other way with CS5 is going to File > Import > Video Frames To Layers

you gotta have Quick Time Player to use this option

I recommend you to have the videos you’re going to use with this option to be mp4 or else it won’t work

You’re gonna have a box where you can select the part of your video you want to gif by pressing Alt and dragging, also put the option ‘Import each: 4 or 5 frames’ or however you like the most

this way it’s gonna be faster to make the gif, you don’t have to put each layer on each frame like this video, it will automatically settled for you to only delete the frames you don’t want and only change the timing and stuff.
